What do I need for sun-connected charging?
A Goodwe Homekit energy meter. The charger cannot see your solar without it. The HCA works as a conventional 32A charger out of the box. Solar-following charging is the feature worth having, and it depends on the Homekit meter reporting consumption and export. If you already run a Goodwe DNS-G3 or SDT-G2 inverter, both are HCA compatible and the addition is straightforward. The meter is quoted separately where one is not already fitted.
Which power rating should I choose?
7kW on single phase, 11kW or 22kW on three phase. The supply at your switchboard decides it. Single-phase Perth homes get 7kW, which is around 40km of range an hour and a full overnight charge for normal driving. Choosing 22kW without three-phase power is not an upgrade, it is an incompatibility, so this is worth confirming before you order rather than after.
What warranty and support are included?
2 years on the unit, and 2 years on installation and service when we install. Monitoring configuration and network integration come with the installation, and [PSW Life Support](/psw-life-support) covers you afterwards. If you want a longer manufacturer term on an AC charger, the [Sungrow](/product/sungrow-ev-charger) and [myenergi zappi](/product/myenergi-zappi-ev-charger) units both run 3 years, and we would rather point that out than not.
Can I add a battery to the same system later?
Yes, if your Goodwe inverter is a hybrid. The [Goodwe Lynx Home F](/product/goodwe-lynx-home-f-series) pairs with the EH and ET hybrid models on the DC side. A Goodwe string inverter will not take it without an inverter change, so if a battery is on your horizon it is worth sorting the inverter question now rather than paying twice.
