Fronius announced two products for Australia at Intersolar Munich in May 2025: the Reserva battery and the Wattpilot Flex EV charger, both said to be arriving late 2025 or early 2026. It is now August 2026 and neither is in our range. That is the honest update to this page, and it is the reason we are careful about writing up trade shows at all.
Announcements and availability
- Fronius unveiled the Reserva battery system and the Wattpilot Flex EV charger at Intersolar Munich, May 2025, both framed for an Australian launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
- As at August 2026, PSW Energy does not fit either. Nothing on this page should be read as a product we can quote you.
- What we do still fit is the Fronius GEN24 inverter family, and we support Fronius systems other companies installed.
- A product shown at a European trade show is an announcement, not a shipping date. Australian certification, grid approval under AS 4777.2 and actual stock are three separate hurdles after the press release.
Reserva and Wattpilot Flex
The visit was to Fronius International’s headquarters in Austria as a Fronius Service Partner, then to Intersolar Munich. Two things were new. The Reserva is Fronius’s own battery, designed to pair with its inverters and be managed through Solar.web rather than a third-party app. The Wattpilot Flex is an EV charger that throttles charging to match what the array is actually producing, so the car takes surplus rather than pulling from the grid.
Both are sensible products and neither idea is unusual any more — solar-following EV charging in particular is now something several manufacturers do. What Fronius was offering was that it would all sit inside one monitoring platform, which is a genuine advantage if your inverter is already a Fronius.
Australian launch timing
We do not know, and we are not going to guess at a manufacturer’s reasons. What we can say is what it looks like from here: a product announced for Australia has to clear certification and grid-connection approval before an installer can put it on a roof, and those timelines are not controlled by the launch calendar. A slip from “late 2025” to “not yet in August 2026” is ordinary in this industry rather than a scandal.
The reason it matters is that customers were told, by us among others, to wait for it. If you held off on a battery in 2025 because a Fronius one was coming, that was a year of savings you did not get. We would rather say so than quietly let this page keep implying the product is imminent.
Factory visit and Fronius support
The factory visit was worth more than the show floor. Seeing how a manufacturer builds and tests inverters tells you something about how it will behave on a warranty claim in year seven, and Fronius has been better than most on that count for a long time — which is why we still support the fleet of Fronius systems across Perth whoever installed them.
If you have a Fronius inverter and it is showing a code, the reference is at Fronius inverter state codes. If it needs a person, that is what PSW Life Support is for. If you are choosing a battery now rather than waiting for one, the batteries we actually fit are the honest list.
Update, 18 August 2026: Fronius has confirmed to Australian partners that the Reserva Pro is coming to Australia, subject to CEC approval, which it does not yet have. That is the current position and it is worth reading before anyone quotes you one.
Record: Intersolar Munich, May 2025. Australian availability of the Reserva and Wattpilot Flex re-checked August 2026 — neither is in the PSW range.
