Solar products from the Shanghai New Energy Conference 2025

Limited roof space can make panel efficiency a useful comparison point. The 2025 Shanghai visit put that question alongside previews of Aiko panels and Sigenergy storage.

The future of solar unveiled at the Shanghai New Energy Conference 2025
In this article

Most products shown at solar trade shows never reach Perth roofs; those that do arrive twelve to eighteen months later than announced. This June 2025 report on the Shanghai New Energy Conference was updated in August 2026 to record what reached the PSW range.

Conference outcomes

  • The Aiko panels shown in Shanghai did arrive. The Neostar 3S+ family is in our range now.
  • Sigenergy’s AI-managed storage also landed, as SigenStor. We fit it, and PSW Energy has since become a Sigenergy Gold Installer.
  • The module-level monitoring idea has not shipped. The original version of this page passed on a rumour about who might build it. That was not our information to publish and it has been removed.
  • Panel efficiency is the specification people over-weight. On a Perth roof, orientation, shading and inverter sizing move your annual yield more than a point of module efficiency does.

Aiko and Sigenergy product updates

The Aiko modules shown in Shanghai are now going on WA roofs. The earlier claim that 25 per cent efficiency was a world-leading standard was not supported. Aiko sits at the top of the mainstream residential range, but the exact efficiency depends on the model and test conditions.

The AI-managed inverter and battery shown by Sigenergy is the SigenStor line. Its controller manages energy use as well as reporting it.

Efficiency on a space-constrained roof

A higher-efficiency panel gets more watts out of the same rectangle. That is only worth paying for when the rectangle is the constraint — a small north face, a roof cut up by plumbing and a skylight, or a house where the only good aspect is already full. On those roofs the premium is easy to justify.

On an ordinary Perth roof with a clear north face and room to spare, it usually is not. You can reach the same annual generation with more of a cheaper panel, and the money saved buys a bigger battery or covers the switchboard work that the quote quietly left out. We say this knowing it argues against selling the more expensive module.

Technical and support discussions

Less than this page originally suggested. A conference is useful for two things: meeting the people who will answer a warranty escalation in three years, and seeing whether a manufacturer’s engineers can answer a hard question without a marketing person in the room. Both tell you something about year six of owning the product. Neither belongs in a quote.

The rest — the roadmaps, the concepts, the things arriving next year — we now hold onto until they are certified and in stock here. Announcing them to customers who are trying to make a decision this month is not a service to them.

If you want the panels we actually fit rather than the ones on a stage in Shanghai, they are in the solar range. For a size worked out against your own roof, ask for a written price.

Record: Shanghai New Energy Conference, June 2025. Outcomes re-checked against the current range in August 2026.
