PSW Explains

Huawei inverter warranty terms and support

Warranty enquiries start with the inverter model, serial number and installation date. Keep the supply and installation documents with those details when asking about cover.

Huawei Inverter Warranty Perth WA
In this article

There are Huawei inverters on Perth roofs with no warranty at all, and their owners do not know. Not because Huawei refused a claim, but because the unit was bought through a channel that voided the cover before it reached the house. That problem was never really about Huawei, and it has not gone away.

Warranty and support

  • A Huawei inverter installed to the manufacturer’s guidelines carries 10 years parts and service, with no activation step.
  • Installed outside those guidelines — wrong handling, wrong channel, wrong install practice — the cover can be void, and nobody tells you until you claim.
  • PSW Energy no longer sells Huawei. We still support the systems we installed and we still answer questions on ones we did not.
  • The lesson generalises to every brand: ask which distributor the unit came through, and get the answer before you pay.

Supply-chain and installation conditions

A manufacturer’s warranty is conditional on the product reaching the roof the way the manufacturer intended. Every additional handling point — an unauthorised importer, a wholesaler buying a parallel shipment, a reseller clearing stock — is a step where handling requirements can be missed and where the chain of custody stops being traceable.

The intended path is short: manufacturer, authorised distributor, certified installer, your home. Where an inverter has taken a longer route, the manufacturer may decline a claim years later, and by then the company that sold it is often gone. The customer is left holding a unit they believed was covered.

Installation practice matters as much as procurement. Inverters have model-specific requirements — clearances, orientation, torque, commissioning steps — and an installer working from general experience rather than that model’s manual can void cover without ever knowing.

Huawei warranty terms

Ten years, parts and service, on the residential SUN2000 range, with no registration or activation required by the owner. That is a genuinely good standard warranty and it is why the grey-import problem was so damaging: the cover was strong enough that people reasonably assumed they had it.

If you have a Huawei inverter and want to know where you stand, the make, model and serial number are on the label on the side of the unit. That plus the install date is what any warranty conversation starts with.

Support for existing Huawei systems

We do not sell it. Huawei is not in our current range and has not been for some time, which we would rather say plainly than leave a page implying otherwise.

We do still support it. There are a lot of these inverters across Perth, most of them working, and a support page for a brand we no longer sell is worth having. If yours is showing something, the reference is Huawei inverter error codes, and if the monitoring has dropped off the network there is a reconnection guide. If it needs a person, that is PSW Life Support.

If your Huawei is at end of life and you are weighing a replacement, the honest starting point is whether the array is worth keeping — usually it is, and the inverter is the part that ages first. Adding to or replacing an existing system covers that decision.

PSW Editorial publishes practical guides to solar, batteries and home energy for Western Australian households. We explain how systems work, what to check before buying and what changes in policy or product support mean for your home. Our aim is to help you compare options, understand the trade-offs and ask useful questions before making a decision.
